BayAreaBiker2001 (2 weeks ago) Would you like to be paying $10+ a gallon? We do here in the UK. Recently sold my huge 4 wheel drive as it cost a $1 just to start it, let alone go anywhere in it.

I have actually seen permium for $5.15/gallon in April 2008 in San Bruno, CA, during one of my bike rides to San Francisco. This is at Shell next to Melody Toyota.

55 MPH is plenty. During the oil crisis of the 1970's that was the speed limit, imposed initially to save fuel, retained because the accident rate went down. The best I gould get on a bike is maybe 15-16 MPH, which I think is plenty. I once managed to get 20 MPH.

I doubt it. Its only 109k and you save how much in gas a year? I fill up on an echo for 1200 bucks a year. gas is suppose to go up to 2 bucks meaning over the course of the year ill spend almost 2k on gas. (assuming next year is the highest it gets "unlikely") if you were paying off a regular car for 8 years youd pay about 10k in gas. that comes right off the price of the car nearly. This is all for a car that gets like 30 some mpg. people who own trucks/vans will save more. |
