i think the easiest way is to buy a thing of plywood (i use a 4x6 for good skirmish games) ad glue pink styrafoam on it then glue the sand to the styrafoam and paint the sand and then make hills by layering the foam on one another it should cost you $40 at home depot

cardboard is more avalible and probably easiyerbut i agree styrofoam and oasis type material has got a better effects |
