Leaving Monument Valley

18th up just after sunrise, and onto petrified forest. Due to hour change got there a half hour after they opened. Couple of excellent flights of plane, but wind soon got up. No fly at the painted desert. Left in early afternoon, and at turn off for Mon Valley stopped for gas, but even though outside the Navaho nation, still got hit on by a merchant trying to sell me jewelry. Long drive up to Mon valley, stopping at only big place for fast food. Got to mon. valley JUST as the sun broke out from behind a failing Tstorm for a great sunset. They are building some great 'resort' at mon. valley, jerks. They have also bulldozed another area and called it a campsite. 10 bux for the night. I paid then set up my timelapse for the night. Dogs friendly here. Bark if anything moves which was useful. Slept on wall. Not too cold. About 4ish went to pick up car. Dawn was stunning. Couple of *SUPERB* flights with the plane.19th Tired drive out of Navaho nation. Took the long and scenic way around to Blanding (via valley of the gods)... didn't go into the valley, too tired for long drive down poorly used dirt road. Drive up side of mesa seemed impossible, but was well worth it! Past blanding and into moab. No starbux, fast wifi, or AC but still uploaded a movie and made some more. Drove down some random road with the little Colorado for the night. Completely unexpected but a phenomenal valley. There was a cement factory (or similar at the end) with a road saying 4x4 only, so I wimped out and spent the night further down the valley

I agree with you in regards to the park service plonking grubby service stations in front of awesome natural beauty. I remember leaving Yosemite driving towards Mono Lake and the wiff of the toilet block as we got to the top of the pass!

It's trance not techno! Grrr! You old people don't know anything... about kids music. lulz :)Remember, it goes "Doof! Doof! Doof!" not "Bang! Bang! Bang!" ;)---Anyway, another great vid, TFoot. There's surprisingly good scenery in desert country, isn't there?

@0:08 - one of those RV/trailers looks familiar! It looks just like the high school that Kent Hovind taught in for fifteen years!

Digressive Loquacity Disorder, DLD. It's a chronic disease, but seldom serious ಠ_ಠ

I blame it on Kent Hovind.

How the hell do we get into these tangents over videos that are about 'beauty in the universe'. :D

The US killed the Colo River to bring H20 to desert while "taking care of things properly". One thing undoing it would cause is reducing the wealth of 14 Vegas billionaires and turning millions of their workers Navajo poor overnight. 'Nother is the preachy No Americans wanting to take more Navajo land would stop being hypocrits for a sec. Tf00t says the US park serv wouldnt put up a big hotel. Hello Ahwahnee Glacier Hotel Timberline Wawona et al.... Pls pass the clue stick.
